Arts & Culture Summer League

Arts & Culture Summer League was developed to help prevent learning loss and close achievement gaps using Arts & Culture enrichment activities that promote critical thinking, reading comprehension, writing skills, STEM, leadership, team building, and innovations.

 Using creative expressions such as poetry, paintings, drawings, 3D Sculptures, etc; students will demonstrate experiences with Racial Disparities, Racial Diversity and inclusion, Social Justice, equitable education, &  teen advocacy. This gives  students a platform to artistically express their emotions and share their experiences with others through their creative art.

Students will learn how to complete Copyright Forms and successfully submit application to the Library of Congress in Washington D.C.

Students will engage in learning video production, the 8 elements of film, how to develop storyboards and narrate treatments for video content, how to create videos using camera phone and 4K cameras, learn to edit video content using apps like iMovie, and CapCut video editor

Group Exploratory activities include educational tours of Louisville’s Historical Museums, students will  learn about History, STEM,  Arts & Culture etc. Students will be given fun interactive enrichment tasks to accomplish that will develop and build skills in leadership, communication, and team building.

 

PYOA has partnered with New Directions Housing Corporation, EVOLVE 502, JCPS and Dare To Care Kids Café’ to provide educational enrichment activities, and nutritious meals. Summer programs and  Food Security during the summer is essential for disadvantaged youth who reside in communities considered Food Deserts. Students will be served breakfast, lunch and snacks during program hours preventing food inefficiency.
